Howdy from Houston! For basically the entire month of March, Houston hosts Rodeo Houston at NRG Stadium.
Everything including NRG Stadium, the Astrodome, NRG Convention Center, NRG Arena and the surrounding grounds are transformed into the world’s largest live entertainment and livestock exhibition, and the world’s largest indoor rodeo. Events include 4-H/FFA judging, a Petting Zoo, carnival rides/games/food, a wine garden, the World Champion BBQ Contest, pig races, the BP Super Series Rodeo, and concerts almost every night featuring big names like Alan Jackson, Billy Currington, Florida Georgia Line, Miranda Lambert, Brad Paisley, John Legend, Pitbull and many, many more!
The fair had every kind of food imaginable. We saw fried pickles, giant turkey legs, sweet corn, even fried cookie dough. And you could get almost anything under the sun on a stick. Most things had a fried, BBQ, or taco theme of course.
We had time to play one game before heading into the rodeo. We decided to face-off at a classic game, Wac-A-Mole, and after handing in our tickets, doing some stretches and throwing some intimidating looks at our opponents, we were off! In the end, I came out the victor and chose a pink stuffed donut for my winnings!
